Yvonne Little

Yvonne was born and raised in Hawke’s Bay and graduated as a Comprehensive RN in 1985. She worked in Auckland and then Western Australia in medical/surgical, orthopaedics, burns/plastics, midwifery, paediatrics, and new-born Intensive Care. Yvonne joined The Doctors in 2003 as a Registered Nurse, going on to graduate as a Nurse Practitioner in 2016. She is a member of the NZ College of Primary Health Care Nurses, Executive and Editor of their journal and their representative on the National Cervical Screening Programme Advisory and Action Group. Special Interests: Women’s Health, Paediatrics and Diabetes Outside of work Yvonne enjoys gardening, craftwork, and genealogy.

Wendy Gush

Wendy Gush joined the EIT Health Centre team in 2010. She has been working as a GP in Hawkes Bay for the past 20 years, since immigrating from South Africa with her husband and baby.  Wendy enjoys working with the enthusiastic team at EIT and has special interests in women's health, student health issues and research.

Their family has grown over the years and now includes two teenagers, a uni student, a dog, cat, two pet sheep and four horses. When not working, or looking after the lifestyle block, house and family, Wendy relishes the outdoors, especially horse riding, kayaking, and cycling.

Wai Chern Cheong

Dr. Wai Chern Cheong graduated from University of Malaya in Malaysia in 2011. He was then offered an opportunity by Singapore Ministry of Health to practice in Singapore right after graduation. 

Throughout his medical career Dr. Cheong has gained lots of experience in various medical departments at different general hospitals and clinics, including family medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine, paediatric medicine, geriatric and rehabilitation medicine. He also has special interests in doing minor surgical procedures, such as suturing of open wounds, incision and drainage of abscesses, excision of simple skin lesions, steroid injections, and others. 

Being a multilingual doctor, Dr. Cheong can converse fluently in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Malay.

Veronica Lamplough

Dr Veronica Lamplough is vocationally trained as a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of GPs. Her expertise is in all aspects of Family Medicine: women's health, paediatrics, care of the elderly and minor surgery.  In addition to her role as a GP, Veronica serves on Professional Conduct Committees convened by the Medical Council of NZ, and she is an educator and examiner for the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners. In her spare time Veronica is a keen gardener and enjoys Pilates and paddle boarding.

Val Miller

Val grew up in Auckland and trained at Auckland Medical School then came to Queenstown as a locum 40 years ago and never left. She thoroughly enjoys general practice however her particular specialty areas are: women’s health (including gynaecology and menopause); sports medicine; dermatology-skin lesion diagnoses and removals and any minor surgery.

She has 2 adult children who grew up in Queenstown and now live elsewhere. She is a keen skier and loves the region. Val has recently done 2 terms on the QLDC as elected representative, “my community service” and has learnt a lot about local government.

"I qualified in Southhampton, UK in 1991. I am a GP with knowledge in all aspects of general practice. I look after all ages from 0 – over 100. I have extra experience in minor injury work, having worked as a casualty department senior house officer in Worthing, West Sussex, and for over two years as a staff grade doctor in a minor injury unit in Bridgewater, Somerset.  I hold the family planning qualification of DFFP (Diploma of Faculty of Family Planning of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) and the MRCGP (Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners).  I moved to New Zealand and joined The Doctors Napier in 2007. I am married to Rachel and we have three teenage children".

Tom Bye

Tom Bye

Originally from Auckland, Dr Tom Bye left for medical training in the South Island graduating from the University of Otago Medical School. Following graduation he returned to Auckland and Northland to work as a Doctor, joining The Doctors Mangere in 2015 as a training registrar for 6 months, and then returned here full time in 2017.

Tom is an advanced trainee in both the Colleges of Urgent Care and General Practice. His areas of special interest are Paediatrics, Youth Health, ENT and Plastics. Tom previously worked as a Registrar in ENT (ear, nose, throat) at Auckland and Middlemore Hospitals, Plastics/Burns at Middlemore, ED (emergency department) in Whangarei, ICU (intensive care unit) at Northshore and Auckland. Tom also worked as a House Officer at Middlemore and Starship.

Tim Mapel

Tim Mapel is our cousellor on campus at EIT.  Tim is originally from the USA and has been living in New Zealand for almost 20 years. He has over 25 years experience working with a wide range of people in order to help them find solutions to the challenges that life presents. He has worked in residential, outpatient, and kaupapa Maori settings.  Tim enjoys working with the diversity and all of the issues of being a student at EIT. He is available to students and staff to discuss any issues that affect their health and well-being.

Tim Cummack

After graduating from Otago Medical School in 1985, Tim worked at Christchurch hospital for a year and then moved north to work at Auckland Hospital.

He has worked as a general practitioner since 1987.  Firstly in Epsom and then later in Onehunga where he continues to practice at The Doctors Onehunga, enjoying all aspects of General Practice.

He completed his Fellow training for The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners in 1999. 

Outside of work Tim is a father to two teenage girls.  He enjoys outdoor sports such as sea swimming and tennis and enjoys playing the piano.

Tania Archibald

I was born in Whakatane and have lived here all my life, went to Apanui and then Whakatane High School. I worked at the National Bank for a number of years and then when my last child went off to University My Husband and I left on an adventure to Perth returning 4 years later. I have three children and five grandchildren I spend most of my free time with them and walking the Nga Tapa Wai track. I enjoy leading and supporting our reception team to give our patients the best possible experience.

Sue Crombie

Sue studied medicine at Otago University , graduating in 1986. After hospital training in Hawkes Bay ( including completion of Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) she spent a year in London, travelling and doing locum work.

“Family Medicine always appealed to me and I completed my General Practice training in Christchurch, joining a practice there for 4 years, During this time I delivered babies, and developed a special interest in children’s and women’s health.

In 1994 my husband’s job saw us move to Auckland. I joined St Heliers Medical in 1995 and have enjoyed being part of the St Heliers and Glendowie community ever since.

All aspects of General Practice appeal to me; in particular I love the long-term relationships which I have with my patients over the years.
We have two children – a daughter at University, and a son at secondary school. I know how precious my family are to me, so it is a privilege to provide care for others.”

Stuart Monk

Stuart entered Medical School in Dunedin where he met Jane. They both started their careers in the Hawkes Bay working as junior doctors. GP training was completed in Bristol, England then they worked in central Nigeria for four years working for Tear Fund UK. They have two adult sons, one a Civil Engineer and the other working in business. 

His passions include running for fitness, sailing for fun and reading for relaxation. He enjoys working with all age groups but especially enjoys older adult’s health challenges. He is the GP for two local rest homes. He offers a variety of minor surgery at The Doctors Massey Medical and increasingly excision of skin cancers. .

Steve trained in the UK and worked for over 20 years as a partner in a busy general practice. He has an interest in ophthalmology, respiratory medicine and dermatology.

He enjoys doing outside activities and is embracing the kiwi lifestyle.

Stephanie Taylor

Stephanie is an Otago University graduate and has worked as a GP in Wellington and South Auckland before joining St Heliers Medical in 2004.

Despite being a hurricane supporter Stephanie loves the Auckland lifestyle, she is married with three children and loves exercise and the outdoors.

Stephanie also works as the National Clinical Director for Green Cross Health so unfortunately she is not accepting new patients.

Stephanie is proud to be an owner of The Doctors St Heliers and is excited to now be part of our bigger team.

Stephanie Taylor

Dr Stephanie Taylor is a Specialist General Practitioner and shareholder at The Doctors St Heliers, she has worked at this clinic since 2004, prior to this she worked as a GP in both Wellington and South Auckland. 

Dr Taylor is a Director of ProCare Health Limited PHO and GenPro and is a Trustee for the mental health charity Voices of Hope. 

As Clinical Director, Stephanie provides clinical leadership and support to our network and partners with our General Manager Medical on executing strategic opportunities for the Green Cross Health Medical group.

Stefan Freudenberg

Graduating from the University of Munich in 1998 with a PhD in carcinoid heart disease, Dr Freudenberg has special interest in children's health, heart disease and emergency medicine. His specialist services include acupuncture, minor surgery and wound care. He also holds an allergy clinic on Friday afternoons. Stefan is also a teacher for the the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Outside of work when he isn't busy with his four children, he is on the Board of Trustees at Napier Central School and is a very keen sportsman.
