“Sophie is our new Health Coach and Community Support Worker.
Originally from the UK, she has been living in Queenstown for the past 7 years.
Whilst in the UK, Sophie worked within mental health and wellbeing, and for the past two years as a phlebotomist here in Queenstown.
As a Health Coach, Sophie’s role is to help support patients in better understanding of their health and empowering patients in making positive behaviour changes around their health and wellbeing. As a Community Support Worker, Sophie can provide practical support out in the community by helping develop skills to make positive health and wellbeing changes. This can include home visits, making connections to other services and even accompanying patients to these services.
Sophie is based at Shotover on Thursdays and Frankton on Fridays. Her sessions are usually 30 minutes and are free for all enrolled patients. She is available for Community Support Work on Tuesdays
Outside of work, Sophie loves a good boxset, getting out for walks and exploring different parts of the South Island”

I gained an Arts degree and travelled before training as a doctor in the UK, following tradition by becoming the fifth generation of doctors in mu family. I've been a GP in Auckland since 1993. I thoroughly enjoy working alongside our wonderful team at AFMC. I enjoy all aspects of my job, particularly women's health, children and minor surgery. I have travelled extensively and love planning more exciting adventures. I'm a keen mountain biker, love the outdoors, music, theatre and film. I have three adult children.

I am a Family Doctor from the United States, I completed my training in 2014 in Oregon, in the United States' Pacific Northwest. Grace joined our practice from the UK on 5 September 2016. She was attracted to work in New Zealand based on her impressions of New Zealand culture and the opportunities for outdoor activities. She enjoys work in general practice and was looking for a practice where she could approach healthcare in a more holistic way. The Doctors Te Whare Hapara provides her with this opportunity, being a General Practice whose values are based on whanau ora concepts. Grace joins us for at least 2 years and we will most certainly be supporting her to stay longer. She has experience across all specialisations with a particular interest in mental health, gynaecology and minor surgery.

Glenis started with us in 2017. She splits her time between all the regular nursing duties including immunisations, dressings, diabetes and asthma management, spirometry, liquid nitrogen, and general health advice, and overseeing the nursing team.
Glenis also completes cervical smears for women not needing to see the doctor.

Gerry was born in Auckland, growing up in Oratia before moving to Kumeu while studying medicine at Auckland University. Following graduation she worked in a wide range of specialities in Waikato Hospital and in hospitals in North East Yorkshire. She completed her specialist training with the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP), and on returning to New Zealand she obtained her Fellowship of the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP).
Gerry enjoys all aspects of medicine which is why she chose General Practice. She is particularly interested in Women and Children’s medicine, psychiatric/psychological medicine, older people’s health and ENT.
Gerry lives with her Yorkshire husband, two young children and George the dog. She enjoys exercising with her family in the Eastern Bays and is a keen gardener and avid reader. She regularly travels to the UK to catch up with family there and loves escaping to the Pacific islands in the winter when she can.

Dr Wu graduated from the University of Otago in 2003. He completed his GP registrar training in Hamilton/Te Awamutu and passed primary membership exam for the Royal NZ College of GPs in 2006.
Before starting his general practice career, he worked for a year in both Dunedin Public Hospital and Royal Price Alfred Hospital in Sydney as a resident doctor and emergency department doctor. Dr Gary Wu has special interests in minor surgery, pediatric health, chronic conditions and health/wellbeing promotion. He moved to New Zealand with his family when he was 15. He speaks four languages which include English, Mandarin, and two other dialects.
Dr Wu is actively involved in our supporting our community by volunteering to provide health education sessions - presenting on topics such as cardio-vascular disease.

The friendly face on reception as administrator for over 7 years, arrived in Queenstown in 2009 in her early 20s.
She has used every opportunity to educate herself, studying finance and business, earning herself a Diploma in Money Management, Hotel Management and Mental Health, and a diploma in interpretation to Portuguese, specialising in health care, ethical challenges, mental health during covid, migration matters and working with police. Fabi is currently studying health science and loves getting out in the outdoors. She won two categories in the Spirit of Wakatipu Awards 2019 – Health and Wellbeing and the People’s Choice Award and is an active member of the church who loves helping our community.
