Joanne Gao

Dr Joanne Gao graduated from the University of Auckland in 2013. She has spent many years working around the hospitals in New Zealand in various specialities, including one year training in Internal Medicine. She is currently a member of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care. Her main interest is managing urgent medicine and accidents. Dr Gao can speak two languages, English and Cantonese.

Jo Lett

Jo is originally from Glasgow, where she went to Medical School before venturing overseas. She spent time in NZ in the early 2000s, which led to her permanent move here in 2006. After living in Invercargill for ten years, like a lot of Southlanders she migrated north to the snowy peaks of Queenstown where she worked at Lakes District Hospital for three years before moving to primary care. Jo has a particular interests in all areas of adult general medicine.

Outside of work Jo enjoys walking on the awesome tracks around Queenstown and Arrowtown, skis (badly) and despite her husband's best efforts strongly dislikes all forms of cycling.

Jim McKevitt

Jim Mckevitt has been a GP in Whakatane for about 30 years, and still has patients who have travelled those years with him. He now works 3 days per week so he can spend more time with his family. He enjoys the amazing variety of General Practice and has a special interest in skin cancer surgery.

Jessica Sterenborg

Dr Sterenborg has been part of our team since 2018.

She studied at Leicester University in England, graduating in 2008.  In 2009 she moved to New Zealand and lived mostly in the South Island.  Dr Sterenborg completed her GP training in Dunedin, and lived in Marlborough Sounds for 4 years before heading to Hawkes Bay to join our team at The Doctors Greenmeadows. 

Dr Sterenborg has a special interest in how lifestyle factors such as nutrition, movement, stress and sleep contribute to health and happiness.  Her main focus is on nutrition. 

Outside of work Dr Sterenborg loves the outdoors and connection to nature.  Spending a lot of her free time outside, running, biking, tramping and doing yoga as well as enjoying good food, farmers markets, live music and theatre.

Dr Jessica Handley is our newest GP in the team and she came to us as a fully specialised General Practitioner from the UK.  She particularly enjoys paediatrics, acute primary care and making relationships with her patients.  Outside of work she is interested in the arts, and baking and is a Girl Guide Leader.

Janice Lee

Born in Malaysia, Janice is Malaysian Chinese, and can write and speak fluently in Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and of course English. She is comfortable to consult in Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay or English.

Janice came to New Zealand to pursue her medical degree and graduated from the University of Auckland in 2012. Since graduation, she has worked in all 4 major hospitals in greater Auckland region (Auckland City Hospital, North Shore Hospital, Middlemore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital) with various level of experience in Surgery, Psychiatry, Medical Subspecialties, and especially more experience in General Medicine as medical registrar.

Since becoming a GP, Janice enjoys getting to know her patients well, forming relationship with great trust, and being the specialist of their overall health. She believes that good healthcare should be patient-centred, with good clinical decisions made collaboratively with patients, based on their values. She has great interest in chronic care disease (diabetes, heart and lung disease) and women’s health. She is currently also pursuing further post-graduate studies in Women’s Health at University of Auckland.

Janice is married with a son and a new baby daughter whom she enjoys spending the most time with, on the weekends. Her other passions include reading, joining aerobic classes and watching movies/drama with her husband.

Jane Renwick

A graduate of Otago medical school, Jane met her husband, Stuart Monk, when they were classmates at university. She did her initial GP training in Hastings before working in inner city Bristol (UK). She and Stuart then went to central Nigeria with Tear Fund UK for four years. They joined MMC in 1998 and initially both worked part time so they could care for their two young sons. Jane enjoys providing healthcare for the whole family and helping people to feel confident to manage and understand their ongoing health issues such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease. She has a particular interest in Women’s health. She also works for an organisation called Best Practice (BPAC) and visits other GP’s around NZ. Read more

Jane Alexander - Nutritionist

Jane joined The Doctors Napier Ltd in 1999 as a Practice Nurse.  At the time Jane was studying nutrition, so started out running an asthma and diet clinic, which over time, morphed into her "Wellness Clinic"

Jane see's people of all ages and stages to support them wherever they are in their health journeys.  She does this by working with nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, supplements, medications and works as "a cheerleader of your life choices and a guide as you make health decisions"

Jane is currently becoming a mental health credentialed nurse to support the large levels of anxiety and depression she has seen in her time working in clinic. 

Outside of work "I am big reader and a perennial learner, I am currently trying to pick up French again, and lamely playing the piano.  So then I have to balance all that sitting with some gardening, walking and going to the gym and pretending I am much younger than I am.  Otherwise you will find me in the sun with a good chardonnay"

Jamie Wright

Jamie is Mum to two children Ruby and Harvey - who keep her busy! She lives on a beautiful farm in Maungakaramea and loves it there. Her and her family spend most of their time doing horsey activities and enjoying the beauty of their backyard. Jamie has been a nurse since 2013 and has been working in general practice for about 6 years. She  is looking forward to seeing you in clinic.

Jacob Rollo

Jacob was born and raised in Dunedin.  After leaving high school, he initially completed a science degree at Otago University prior to working for several years as a teaching fellow in the Otago University physiology department.  He subsequently moved to Melbourne, Australia to undertake his medical school training, during which time he met his wife Kim.  They returned and settled in Auckland around the Eastern Bays area in 2013 and now have a 3 year old daughter.  In his spare time, Jacob enjoys the outdoors, running, swimming, cycling, playing guitar, reading, and listening to music.

Indira Wickramasinghe

Doctor Indira is originally from Sri Lanka and arrived in NZ in 2008. After completing all the required transition NZ medical examinations, Indira worked as a House Officer at Auckland Hospital, North Shore and Middlemore Hospital in different specialists before joining a GP training program.

She worked as a junior doctor and as House Officer at The Doctors Middlemore and now is in the team as a permanent GP. 

Indira loves spending time with her two young daughters and husband when not at work and her hobbies are reading a good novel, baking, gardening and travelling with her family.

Huta Tangaroa

Huta joined the Mangere team in 2006 and has rapidly become an extremely popular and well respected member of the doctor team.

Huta is originally from the Cook Islands, but has spent many years in general practice in New Zealand; Bay of Islands, West Auckland and more recently South Auckland.

Holly Runstadler

Dr Holly Runstadler joined our Greenmeadows team in early 2020.

Dr Runstadler studied at Michigan State University College of Osteopath Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan, USA.

She grew up in Michigan and completed her undergraduate degree, medical degree and residency training there.  She moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for 4 years as a family practitioner before moving to NZ in 2012.  She was luck enough to find a GP position in Hawkes Bay and has been here ever since, other than a few months working as a locum during her first year in NZ. 

Dr Runstadler has an interest in Functional Medicine, which looks at the root cause of disease to help patients reverse their chronic health conditions.  "I believe that by addressing lifestyle factors, including nutrition, exercise, stress, sleep and support, we can prevent and even reverse most of the long term health conditions that face our society today".

Outside of work Dr Runstadler loves exploring our beautiful country and tries to get outside as often as possible, with her husband, 2 young daughters and their Labradoodle Murphy.  She also enjoys crossfit, biking, swimming, hiking, yoga and playing football.  She travels as often as she can to visit family who are scattered around the globe.
