Michael has been at The Doctors Mangere off and on for over a decade. He is a past partner and clinical director of the practice, as well as being a current board member and is now serving as General Manager.
Michael has spent 18 months working in Australia doing locum work including remote and rural placements. He has also previously served as the clinical director of the PHO TaPasefika, as well as being involved with CMDHB in the Diabetes/CVD CCM programme.
Michael's other activities include supervising GP trainees, as well as junior doctors on placement from the hospital and Auckland University medical students on family medicine attachments. He brings huge clinical and organizational experience to the practice.

I grew up in the South Waikato town of Tokoroa and graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from WINTEC in 2003. From there I have undertaken various roles in Australia, Waikato and the BOP. I moved to Whakatane in 2008 where I live with my husband and 3 children. My speciality areas are Travel and COPD. I love Primary healthcare and all the exciting opportunities it brings. I enjoy working closely with our team and forming relationships with our local families.

Megan graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2010, and moved to New Zealand in 2012 spending two years rotating around hospitals in Auckland. She then returned to the UK in 2014 to complete her GP training and also gained a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Missing the New Zealand life style she return to Auckland in 2018, joining the Team at The Doctors Onehunga.
Megan has an interest in women’s health and paediatrics, but enjoys all aspects of general medicine and chronic disease management.
She has two young children and enjoys spending family time outside at a beach or park.

Megan Brebner is a familiar face to our patients and now she has a new qualification. Megan has worked with us at The Doctors Tauranga for 10 years and has been a nurse for 30 years. In 2017 Megan qualified at the highest level of the nursing profession and is excited to be our first ever Nurse Practitioner!
Nurse Practitioners are advanced nurses who have studied and qualified to enhance their knowledge and skills in patient care. They can prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests including blood tests, x-rays and ultrasound. Megan has booked appointments and works alongside a GP in our walk-in clinic for 2 sessions a week. Megan is also Nurse Leader of the Careplus programme supporting people with long term conditions e.g. diabetes, heart disease, renal and respiratory conditions and continues in her role as a Diabetes Nurse Specialist.
Megan was inspired to upskill from a desire to do more for her patients. She has completed a Masters in Nursing and has worked alongside Dr Séan Barklie as her mentor and clinical supervisor - “Séan has been a great mentor to me”.
As a Nurse Practitioner Megan has appointments that allow patients to learn more about improving their health and managing their medical conditions.

Megan works alongside our GPS to ensure holistic patient centered care and a team approach. Megan has a specialty area of diabetes and long-term condition management and enjoys women’s health. Outside of work Megan is married with three young adult children. She enjoys walking, biking and musical theatre.

Dr Mazher arrived in New Zealand in 2012 from the UK. He worked a few years as a GP in Palmerston North. He joined The Doctors Middlemore in 2014 and since then has been working as a full time GP with us. During his time in Auckland, he gained fellowship in General Practice. As Mazher has some family ties in the UK, he regularly visits there. Recently he went back to the UK to gain some more experience from the UK's General Practice. He enjoys working at The Doctors Middlemore and his special interests include managing chronic conditions like diabetes, COPD and minor surgery. He's also very keen to do joint injections like shoulder, hip, knee and carpal tunnel etc. He has 3 kids who study in Auckland and want to pursue their higher education in New Zealand and so he is planning to stay in New Zealand for a long time.

Marianne joined us in late 2021 and she is finishing her final year of specialised GP training. She completed 2 years as a House Office and a year in General Medicine, before starting her GP training. She has completed her Certificate of Dermatoscopy and Skin Cancer Medicine. Away from work she enjoys music, singing, dancing and exercise and nutrition.

Malcom joined The Doctors Birkenhead in 2018. He is an experienced GP, particularly in injury management and minor surgery. He also works at The Doctors Fred Thomas & Hauraki Corner from time to time.
Malcolm has a specialist interest and qualification in Herbal Medicine, and enjoys collaborating with his patients regarding nutritional approaches to their health. In particular he has an interest in metabolic medicine in relationship to chronic disease and eating styles. He has recently developed an interest in management of intractable thyroid dysfunction and some chronic diseases by looking at the gut microbiome.

Maik joined The Doctors Napier team in 2018.
Maik carried out his studies in Budapest and Greifswald (Germany). After completing his studies he then worked in emergency services during his time in general medicine and as a GP in Germany.
Maik recently moved to Hawkes Bay with his family, after working as a GP in England for the past two years. Maik has a particular interest in TLA (therapeutic local anesthesia or neural therapy). Outside of work he enjoys the outdoors, food and the local Hawkes Bay wines, board games and reading.

Dr Husain completed her medical training in Bangladesh. She has called New Zealand home since the 1990s and has raised her daughter as a single mother living in Nelson, Dunedin and Auckland. She has been a practising physician for over 30 years, and nearly 20 years as a GP in Auckland. She has inspired her daughter, who is a Paediatric Fellow in Starship.
Dr Husain has always worked with great passion and dedication in diverse communities, and remains humbled by her strong patient following. She has a special interest in preventative medicine, chronic care management, women's and children's health.
Dr Husain is a panel physician for Immigration New Zealand. She is fluent in four languages: English, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali.

Lorraine has completed her Clinical Masters in Nursing and registered as a Nurse Practitioner in 2015. Lorraine has spent time working in busy Emergency Departments, orthopaedics, general medicine, primary care clinics and child health. Dr Lisa Rhee completed her medical training in Christchurch's Sister City Adelaide, South Australia in 2012. While working as a hospital resident there, she completed Diploma of Child Health (Westmead Hospital & U. Syd) and Certificate in Emergency Medicine (ACEM). She undertook Australian General Practice Training in New South Wales in 2016 and attained fellowship two years later. Lisa is blessed to be doing what she loves doing. It's rewarding to care for her patients. Her interests outside medicine are enjoying walks, gym fitness and spending time with friends and family - including her young daughter.

Dr Lian coppus started with us late 2019.
She is originally from the Netherlands, moving to New Zealand with her family as a teenager. She is fluent in Dutch. Lian grew up on a dairy farm in Southland and made her way north after graduating from the University of Otago, working in Gisborne and then Whangarei hospital for a number of years.
Lian worked in adult medicine, children's health and also spent time in emergency medicine before starting her career in general practice in late 2017. She is currently in her last year of the GP training program. Lian lives with her husband and 2 young children aged almost 1 and 3 years old.
Lian has an interest in women's and children's health, the care of the elderly, preventive medicine and in managing chronic diseases like diabetes, heart, lung, liver, and kidney disease.
With her family she loves exploring the outdoors, especially doing long walks in the bush.

I was born and raised in Malaysia. After completed a medical degree in Taiwan, I immigrated to New Zealand in 2007. Here, I gained a Postgraduate Diploma of Child Health in 2010 and GP fellowship in 2014. I perform minor surgeries. I am able to do ingrown toenail, simple skin lesion excision and steroid injections (shoulder, knee, carpal tunnel, trigger finger etc). I speak fluent English and Chinese. I understand most Taiwanese, Cantonese but am not able to speak them. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tennis and violin.
